Functional Life Skills
Transition Program - Functional Life Skills Training
Denver Public Schools (DPS), demonstrates the positive impact functional life skills training has on students by helping them feel like they belong and have a purpose. Students are taught essential life skills such as: life, career and study skills, as well as money management and adult literacy.
Functional life skills are critical skills required to complete and manage everyday activities and routines with independence. They exist in all settings and are relevant to people of all ages.
Although the mastery of many functional life skills are essential to live independently as an adult, little time is scheduled for individuals who require explicit instruction to gain independence in learning these skills.
