The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) was created by Dr. Mark Sundberg and is based on B.F. Skinner’s groundbreaking analysis of language, Verbal Behavior. The VB-MAPP provides a comprehensive framework for assessing a person’s language, learning, play, and social skills. The framework closely examines skills that should be increased as well as barriers that are hindering a person’s progress in meeting basic developmental milestones. The goal of the VB-MAPP assessment is to provide a baseline of a person’s skills and compare those skills to typically developing peers across three language development age levels (i.e., 0-18 months of age, 18-30 months of age, and 30-48 months of age).
